LETTERS TO TUESDAYS ANGELS

The following are excerpts from some of the many letters to Tuesdays Angels from clients and others:

I would like to thank you and each member of your organization for the financial assistance your “Angels” have offered to me. There must be some phrase other than ‘Thank you” I can use to express my gratitude.”

….

“(My friend) and I would like to take the time’ to say thank you, so very much for your support. It simply restores our faith in others. We were pretty close to the edge.’’

….

“Your kind letter meant more than you will ever know. I am most touched in hearing that (our son’s) friends in Florida thought so much him, to choose an organization like Tuesdays Angels in which to remember him.”

….

‘‘I wish to express my deepest gratitude for your concern, kindness, and assistance that has come to my son and therefore to me also, in this our time of tremendous need. Words cannot fully express what’s in my heart; but my prayers will always carry thankfulness for your responding as you have and coming to our aid.”

….

“I would just like to thank you very much for providing me with the financial assistance I desperately needed.”

….

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all once again for your financial support. It has been such a comfort to me at this time in my life, to have people who are so supportive and caring.”

  ….

“Thank you Guys – without you I would be killing myself with stress and anxiety.”

….

“(My friend) and I would like to say thanks ever so much in the recent transaction on our electric and water bill due to our illness and being in the hospital.”

WHAT IS IT THAT TUESDAYS ANGELS DOES?

Tuesdays Angels raises funds through donations at its monthly dinner meeting and other activities. They disburse those funds to needy and/or indigent persons afflicted with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, AIDS. The organization does not discriminate in any matter. The only two requirements for assistance are that the client must have AIDS and he indigent or in need. Each case is individually investigated. Upon proper documentation, assistance is given - sometimes within hours. Tuesdays Angels may also support other non-profit organizations offering assistance to people with AIDS.

WHAT KIND OF SUPPORT DOES TUESDAYS ANGELS PROVIDE?

People with AIDS are often unable to work. They usually have very little income and are frequently hospitalized. From time to time they may need financial assistance. That’s when Tuesdays Angels steps in. They work with all local AIDS groups, hospitals, social workers, churches, federal government and quasi-government agencies. By doing so the Angels ensure that every genuinely needy individual gets the necessary help.

WHAT SPECIFICALLY DOES TUESDAYS ANGLES FUND?

The Angels have paid for a variety of expenses incurred by its clients, including:

Utility bills                      Medical service and medicines
                  Rent assistance
         Transportation to family home
                  Hot meal delivery
In-home nursing care
                  Cremation
 Ambulance services

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF DOLLARS DONATED ACTUALLY GOES TO NEEDY PEOPLE WITH AIDS?

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT! Tuesdays Angels is very proud of the fact that every penny donated has gone or will go to help someone suffering with AIDS and in need. The Angels have no salaried employees, and all officers and directors are volunteers. Investment earnings and the Board of Directors personally fund all administrative expenses (including the cost of this web site).

ARE MY DONATIONS TO TUESDAYS ANGELS TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

Yes, to the fullest extent allowed by the Internal Revenue Code.

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER OF TUESDAYS ANGELS?

Membership applications are available from any of the Board of Directors or may be obtained by calling

(954) 566-7686.

WHEN AND WHERE ARE TUESDAYS ANGELS MEETINGS HELD?

Dinner meetings are scheduled on the first Tuesday of the month (except for May through September). A "No Host" happy hour begins at 6:00 P.M. with dinner served at 7:30 P.M. The Angels dine at prominent Fort Lauderdale area restaurants. Please ask any member or call (954) 566-7686 for exact location of the next meeting. Dinner reservations are requested.

HOW DOES SOMEONE REQUEST ASSISTANCE?

To get help for a person with AIDS simply contact any Tuesdays Angel. They will see that the appropriate directors are notified. Upon receiving the request for assistance, it is assigned to a Director to investigate. Tuesdays Angels requires the attending physician to attest that the client has full-blown AIDS. If it appears to be a legitimate request, funding will then be considered by a quorum of Directors. Most of the requests are of an emergency nature. Funding is made available in a short period of time, often the same day. Tuesdays Angels has developed a network of other available resources. After providing financial assistance to clients, the Angels also aid individuals in getting assistance elsewhere in the network.
